Jikke Madelief Sara Lesterhuis
Jikke Lesterhuis was born in 1997 in the Netherlands. She works with different expressions of animation, film and field recording. A central theme that recurs with persistence is her deep-rooted fascination for movement and a reference to man’s relationship with nature, climate change and other environmental issues. Her work explores the absurd; the fundamental disharmony between our search for meaning and the meaninglessness of the universe.During her stays at various artist-in-residence programs around the world, including Japan, Iceland, and Ireland, she absorbed the diverse cultural and natural influences of her surroundings. These experiences have profoundly impacted her work, with elements from local traditions, landscapes, and atmospheres subtly reflected in her films.
